OPI - I Have a Herring Problem (mini)

OPI released a Dutch theme set with crazy names like "Did you Ear About Van Gogh" (putty flesh coloured), "I don't give a Rotterdam" (steely grey/blue), "Gouda Gouda Two Shoes" (weird browny red shimmer), "Kiss me on my Tulips" (fuschia pink), "Wooden Shoe Like to KNow" (dark browny red shimmer)... etc

Anyway, this is probably my favourite one. It's a dark grey blue colour with big silvery speckles and then smaller pink and green shimmer bits, so it really sets the tone for small, shiny fish scales and flicking tails. Or is that my over active imagination? I have previously complained about the tiny bottles but today I didn't have too much of a problem painting with this one. The formula was a bit gluggy but seems to have dried flat. Just waiting to top coat this one. Definitely looks better wet so I'll be putting a super shine coat on in a sec.

Catherine Arley - 672

Mmmmm, most mauve. :-) A while back JJ sent me 2 boxes of Catherine Arley hologram polishes, bless is little mammalic heart. I've already reviewed a few so pop into the polishes by maker bookmarks to see them.

672 is a delicious pale mauve. It paints B E A U T I F U L L Y. It is a dream to paint and a dream to behold and it looks amazing on black cardboard since I was busy making a bird at GoMA at the time. (our modern gallery has activities for children, but adults can do so too. Current adventure is "Fly Away Home" where you are given a blank bird cutout of different colour cardboards, and you decorate it with a variety of things they give you).

This is a really lovely colour to have on for me. Went with everything. the holographic sparkles glitter in the sunshine, winking at everything and everyone.

Ulta3 - Antique Copper

This is a pretty rose gold colour foil polish that has specks of dark copper running through it. It's not as apparent in real life but the camera and direct sunlight seems to highlight it. I really love the matte satin feel of the polish so no top coat for this one. It's a great bargain for $2 at the chemist. One of the nicer Ulta3 colours there are. Nice, runny polish that was easy to apply and dried well. Foil is great too, hard to see any streaking or uneven layers. :)

Present from RTattles!

I had posted my friend in Singapore something from Australia and on a recent trip to Malaysia they raided the bargain bin at Sasa (an Asian beauty department store). What a score!!! I was completely dumbfounded when he whipped out this package as my thank you present.

Can't wait to give them a whirl!

Satin - 13

Terrible brush, scratchy bristles made it really hard to get a smooth coat down. Satin is a cheap brand in discount chemists, $2 a bottle usually. This was a very pretty violet with blue flashes in the bottle that didn't translate on nail. Lovely deep colour when I got to 3 coats. You can see in one of the photos where I had one coat done, how sheer and patchy it is.

I decided to pep it all up with a coat of blue flakes from the brand NYX.

Chi Chi (mini) - Serial Dater

A beautiful, hot coral with a pinkish sheen and gorgeous pearly finish. Don't take notice of the bubbles, that was from the top coat. Nice formula and brush, went on nicely, but you might notice the tip wear. Yeah well, I did three coats and overnight I already had tip wear!!! No chipping though.

Face of Australia - Call Me

I decided to wear this one for a job interview because it was a nice, muted rose with a hint of silvery shimmer. Fair formula that glided on smoothly and a reasonable brush. A little bit of trouble getting thorough coverage. Face of Australia is available in Big W and Priceline.

This was a bit more pink than I expected after it was on. I preferred Mavala's "Velvet" better however that is a creme and no shimmer.

Wet n Wild - The Wonder Yellows

Very pretty daffodil yellow. Pearly and glossy. The brush was not very good and was hard to get into the edges of the nail smoothly and apply the polish without dragging. The brush was a little bit hard bristled.

I did two coats but you can still see the level of transparency there. Both top photos are under fluorescent light. The last one under normal lightbulb. Unfortunately the day time shot I took was shaky.

This was a present from my friend, Jeff, from USA.
