Beauty Perfect - 1104

This is another one where it looks great in the bottle and is lost in translation. It is a pearly sky blue with violet iridescence all over with a deep silky richness.

This polish I got from a haul that mum brought back from Hong Kong many years ago and these have now all gone a bit dry. I've added some thinner but it has made this polish unable to dry out properly. As you can see I got sheet marks overnight!

The week progressed no better, it remained soft enough to get indentations from holding my pen, digging my other nails in and typing (turning up at the edges). It was kind of pretty on the nail, with 3 coats, but never could get that richness that I so liked.

Eleanor - ENP021

Quite a delicious Tiffany blue with an iridescent blue sheen to it. This came from that haul where Cai brought me a bagful of nail polish from Sasa on his Malaysia holiday.

Not too hard to work with, good handle for control! Nice brush too. Really love this colour. Thanks, Cai.

Rimmel - Blue Me Away 809

Indigo metallic with a violet shimmer. Dreamy to apply but I'm not a fan of the short handle. Good formula and coverage. Love the colour under sunlight. Unfortunately most of that violet gleam is lost in translation once it is on.

Australis - Sweetpea

This is a creme pastel mint. Or Tiffany blue. Sigh... It was so hard to work with. It was such a thin pigment that I did 5 coats to get rid of the bald spots which has turned my nail looking like a wedding cake with chunky icing.

Annnnnnyway. I adore this colour, but why you so hard to work with?!

And the chunky round cap.. Also hard to use. I give up. There are other colours just like this one out there that has better coverage and easier to grasp. Goodbye Sweetpea!!!

Max Factor - Fantasy Fire 45

This is a three colour poly chromatic nail polish with microglitter. It looks gorgeous in the bottle but I could not replicate it on the nail. I even tried a base coat of a dark blue but that just totally changed the look.

It is fair to say that it is in a violet jelly base. After 5 layers you could still see the nail. It was so hard to make it look even. I guess that's the way with jellies. :-(( Mostly I am sad about the lack of effect translating onto nail.

I found the brush hard to use, as you can see, got it all over my cuticles and I didn't bother to do clean up before taking photos. Formula.. well, I wish for a formula where it paints like a dream and I don't get dark and light patches. So.. yeah, not too fussed on the formula.

Loreal Color Riche - 610 Rebel Blue

This new range is a 5ml offering and I found these in Priceline last week. Rebel Blue is a midtoned blue with blue iridescent shimmer throughout. However this sadly was not very apparent on the finished coat. Formula is a bit thicker than I like using but for the very careful it might be a one coat wonder. It has a 5mm flat brush with rounded end. I do not like using these!!! Two people commented that they liked it on the first day. To be honest, it was not really a shade that I enjoyed having on. It is eye catching, but it could have been so much more. The bottle lies!! But I do love the size. I grazed over the other shades on offer but only got one other, being Green Couture... Hope to try that next week.

Someone joked that I looked like the lid of the office pens, so there you go, a possible comparison of what this colour is like in real life!

Eleanor - ENP029

A lovely cobalt blue with silver throughout, dries to a beautiful foil finish, thoroughly eye catching hue. Painted on lovely. Quite good and wore long (I had it on about 5 or 6 days). Doesn't even smell too bad.

This was one of a big bag my friend Wiggles brought over from Malaysia in return for Ozzie goods I shipped. Yay! It came from Sasa the major beauty chain in Asia.

OPI - I Have a Herring Problem (mini)

OPI released a Dutch theme set with crazy names like "Did you Ear About Van Gogh" (putty flesh coloured), "I don't give a Rotterdam" (steely grey/blue), "Gouda Gouda Two Shoes" (weird browny red shimmer), "Kiss me on my Tulips" (fuschia pink), "Wooden Shoe Like to KNow" (dark browny red shimmer)... etc

Anyway, this is probably my favourite one. It's a dark grey blue colour with big silvery speckles and then smaller pink and green shimmer bits, so it really sets the tone for small, shiny fish scales and flicking tails. Or is that my over active imagination? I have previously complained about the tiny bottles but today I didn't have too much of a problem painting with this one. The formula was a bit gluggy but seems to have dried flat. Just waiting to top coat this one. Definitely looks better wet so I'll be putting a super shine coat on in a sec.

X6 - 2015

Well... you never know what offbeat stuff you will find in a two dollar store. I picked this up for $2 in fact. It smells terrible and the brush ugh... it had the feel of one of those old bristle turkey basting brushes and that also contributed to scraping the previous layer of colour off. It took 3 coats for a good amount of colour to go on. How to describe... Close up you can see all sorts of bald patches everywhere. But it's so reflective that it is dazzling in sunlight. It's like a jelly shimmer of mid blue. Really love the colour, not really like anything else. The formula was a bit sticky and the brush made it hard to work with. But I did like the bottle, the long thin stem I find easier to control the brush with than the chunky sort they have for most brands now.

Christina Fitzgerald "Deborah" and Cosmiss glitter

Deborah is a milky blue with blue iridescence. It was interesting to look at and was in the bargain bin, so unfortunately not in its best condition and stayed tacky for the 3 days I wore it. Collected smudged from things like newsprint as the days wore on. :( Sad times.

Hard to see the iridescence once on the nail, but it was apparent in the bottle.

Because all the edges pushed up from not drying, I decorated the tips with glitter to hide it. I've blogged the glitter before, but just to recap it was a dodgy fake from China that I picked up along with a fake OPI. So the bottle has come from somewhere and I know nothing about Cosmiss.

The glitter is very nice though.

Revlon scented "Colada Fizz"

A yummy, coconutty and pineapple scent. Still apparent after 3 days of wear. But I think its a real shame it's not darker. This is after 4 coats of polish but I think you could barely say it was even vaguely blue. To most it looks grey. So aside from the delicious smell, it's not a favourite. It's not even chic for the office.

So to describe, a very sheer jelly with an angelic baby blue, with swathes of silvery, pink and green flakies or glass fleck some call it. I'd rather call it sugar crystals. Perhaps this would be a really sweet top coat over something else.

The consistency is nice, goes on really well and smoothly. Dried very quick.

CoverGirl Peelers - Snowcone Peel

I'm a bit wary of peel polish, they tend to take a top layer off your nail. And this was no exception. But I really loved the icy blue that was in the bottle. It was hard to get on, just kept on leaving these spiderwebby strings as I stroked it on the nail. Also took ages to dry properly and afterwards it still has a kind of rubbery feel, not a smooth, silky finish. Although that is a novelty itself.

I got this out of a discount store, and there was only one other colour, a very yolky egg colour. Hmmm. This is one coat. I did actually put another coat on the next day for one hand and it was slightly darker, but woe! It just imprinted ANYthing I rested my hands on and didn't dry properly.

Peeling off was in one piece (plus heaps of my nail!) on the hand with two coats, but rather ratty and shreddy on the one coat hand. Still gorgeous colour in and out of the bottle. I liked it, but yeah... I even did a base coat but all it did was stick the base coat to itself. My poor nails!!!!

PS I have never had a snowcone that was this blue silver grey colour!
