OPI - I Have a Herring Problem (mini)

OPI released a Dutch theme set with crazy names like "Did you Ear About Van Gogh" (putty flesh coloured), "I don't give a Rotterdam" (steely grey/blue), "Gouda Gouda Two Shoes" (weird browny red shimmer), "Kiss me on my Tulips" (fuschia pink), "Wooden Shoe Like to KNow" (dark browny red shimmer)... etc

Anyway, this is probably my favourite one. It's a dark grey blue colour with big silvery speckles and then smaller pink and green shimmer bits, so it really sets the tone for small, shiny fish scales and flicking tails. Or is that my over active imagination? I have previously complained about the tiny bottles but today I didn't have too much of a problem painting with this one. The formula was a bit gluggy but seems to have dried flat. Just waiting to top coat this one. Definitely looks better wet so I'll be putting a super shine coat on in a sec.

Satin - Seasonal Nail Enamel 6

Well, what can I say about this? I saw it and thought WOW, must have it. Putty... Concrete... Lilac tinged... Pearly sheen... Frost.

Satin is an Aussie drug store brand. It was not too bad, but definitely requiring 3 coats, and I have found the polish degrades quickly. A year later and all you have is a gluggy mess in the bottle. But you get what you pay for.

But hey, as it says on the label: "seasonal". You buy it cheap, you wear it for a while, and then you toss it out.

I got a few comments on this colour, particularly from guys. I guess they are more used to pink or red so these neutral tones seem bizarre to them.

I want to add, however, that the brush was lovely. I'd tried some more $$ brands that had TERRIBLE bristles, but this was more than acceptable.

Orly "Iron Butterfly"

Here's the other suede effect metallic I got from Orly. I applied it before bed time and in the morning it had cracked. It's a pretty frail polish and reacts badly to any flexing of the nail. Not sure how it would go with 2 or 3 coats.

I found it was so heavily pigmented that one coat was even coverage.

So perhaps you can call this pewter. It's charcoal black and has this great silver glitter in it. Again, it smoothed itself out as I painted and I really love the frosted bottle and the brush is AMAZING. I don't think I have ever been much fussed about the brush but I can tell you in my old age, that with the shakes, a good brush that flexes well, with all its bristles working together in the same direction and sticking together... it really helps to keep your paint within the lines.

I wonder if I can use this polish as an excuse: sorry, I can't pick that up/type that letter/get that stack of whatever... it will make my polish crack.

P.S. I just looooved touching this polish on my nails. I really love the texture of it!
