Bourjois - 68 Vacances a Hawaii

Dear all. Hi again!!! I have had so many banked up that needed blogging. Here is the starter, a pretty tangerine with a flamingo shimmer. Sadly the shimmer barely shows on the nail and I don't mean on camera but in real life. Sad clown. :(

Anyway, I am still finding these tiny Bourjois bottles hard to handle. Gah, and the polish itself dries so quickly that it makes them quite difficult to deal with.

Now the jelly. Well, I didn't expect it to be one. I thought this was actually quite creamy when I got it. However a really sweet jelly finish at one and two coats but sadly, as I said, formula issue and it was quite patchy on every nail. Therefore I actually ended up doing four coats on each which in the end was terrible, it really looked like I had put some kind of clumpy poster paint all over my nails during an art project gone wild.

Soooo I wore it for a day and then it was goodbye.

I'm sorry, number 68, but I love you better in the bottle.

Bourjois - Soiree a Versailles #61

I totally love these tiny bottles. I don't know much about them except that a few Priceline stores had them in a box. No particular labelling or signs. I didn't even see a price sticker for them. This one is a soft powder pink with a gold shimmer through it. When on the nail it was an absolute pastel manicure. The shimmer was almost impercetible after a top coat though.

The formulation was ok, but got a bit chunky later on - my fault, did not let last coat dry enough.

I saw a dark purple, cherry red and black in the same range. Wore ok, so what can I say...? Not too disappointed by Bourjois products at all. :-)

Bourjois 1 Seconde - 9

So number 9... Number 9 is a very glittery port wine purple. I got this because it was the last one and was on special. Now I kinda wish I had looked at the others when these were out. The brush is really good. It is short (less than 1cm long) and flat and rounded but was much easier to use than the Cutex one I reviewed last time.

Unfortunately, since its old, something has also gone a little wrong with it. Now it doesn't dry well and even after 2 hours of typing carefully, I managed to dint one nail and then after I'd gone to bed I woke up this morning to crumply paint.

There's magenta glitter and a flush of gold too. When it first goes on it is such a fantastic colour. I may try giving it a bit of thinner and see whether that changes the game. Bourjois you can find in Target and Priceline.

Orly (mini) - Blue Belle

More than 5 years ago, I had a colour I really, really adored - Bourjois' #50 Bleute. It was iridescent, semi transparent with a vague milky base and looked like I had a sheet of plastic over my nails. It had a strange way of not looking like nail polish. I've been trying to replicate it for years. Lots do the iridescent baby blue look, but none have come near the effect this Bourjois polish did.

On Wednesday when I discovered Orly at a New Farm chemist, I decided to give Blue Belle a go, despite having been disappointed by other blue polish. Well, it is close, closer than other ones, but still not quite there.

But still, what can I say? This look evokes ethereal beings, angelic and blithe.

I wanted to know why it just wasn't working out for me. Under a fluro lamp I found the Bourjois has a faint amount of pink or violet iriscence. I wonder if I can replicate that. Grrrr. Anyway, for now, this is as near as I can manage.
